The beaches of this island are not the best known but they are very beautiful so today we will go to discover Mallorca’s top 7 beaches. Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, and the most complete. If you have decided to travel with children it is the best solution. Ibiza is famous for its nightlife, Formentera for its prices and Menorca is the wildest, Mallorca represents a mix of these 3 factors.
MALLORCA’S TOP 7 BEACHES
- Calo des Moro (East coast)
- Cala Mayor (Palma de Mallorca)
- Playa de Alcudia (Northeast)
- Cala Marçal (Cala d’Or)
- Cala de Sa Calobra (North)
- Sa Font de N’Alis (North)
- Playa de Es Trenc (South)
RENT A CAR
Mallorca is a very large island, I strongly recommend a rental car rather than a motorcycle. But if you have decided to visit only a part of the island for parking reasons, a motorcycle is better, it takes up less space.
Renting a car if you only think of staying in Palma is not worth it, but if you have decided to cross the island it is the best option. The rentals are quite cheap (20 € / 3 days with Goldcar) but beware of the various insurances that raise the price to more than 100 €. In any case, you will have to check in the same ground as the arrivals and then with the keys pick up the car in the parking lot (the building in front).
PARKING
Normally car parks are free, the only one I paid was the Playa de Es Trenc (€ 7 for the whole day). Like most islands, car parks are far from the beaches, sometimes they are real walks. Always wear comfortable shoes and put sunscreen from the beginning. Here is a small summary of how the beaches of my Mallorca’s top 7 beaches are:
Calo des Moro = 25min walk from the parking, difficulty 7/10, rocks.
Cala Mayor = 2min walk from the bus stop, difficulty 0/10, sand.
Playa d’Alcudia = 2min walk from the parking, difficulty 0/10, sand.
Cala Marçal = 2min walk from the parking, difficulty 0/10, sand.
Sa Calobra = 17min walk from the parking, difficulty 5/10, rocks.
Cala Varques = 17min walk from the parking, difficulty 4/10, sand.
Playa de Es Trenc = 10min walk from the parking, difficulty 1/10, sand.
WHERE TO SLEEP
Where to sleep will depend a lot on what area you want to visit on the island. I personally chose an area close to Cala d’Or, in the Résidence Pierre et Vacances Mallorca Cecilia (use the Booking.com widget to make a reservation). A comfortable aparthotel, with kitchen and swimming pool, 50km from Palma, on the east coast paying € 60 a night (June). The bed was not comfortable being a sofa bed but for 3 nights it was perfect. Possibility of breakfast or half board and parking free. Do you have other areas in mind?
Bus diretto dall’aeroporto.
