Everyone knows the most important works of Gaudí, such as the Sagrada Familia and Casa Battló, but not everyone knows the first project of the famous architect, today we visit the Casa Vicens.

Casa Vicens is located in the district of Gracia, (north of Barcelona), to get there you can take the L3 up to Fontana, or the buses 27, D40, 24, 22, V17. Prices. If you choose the entrance without a guided tour, remember that each floor has staff ready to respond to all your curiosity.
Opening hours: open every day from 10:00 to 20:00, last access 19.00
Closed: 25 December / 1 and 6 January
Free admission: Internation Museum Day (the third weekend of May).
CASA VICENS YESTERDAY:
The Casa Vicens is the first masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí, built between 1883 and 1885 as a summer house for the Vicens family. Unesco World Heritage sites, including Casa Vicens since 2005.
The current configuration of Casa Vicens and its land is the result of three clearly differentiated spaces: the original construction from 1883-1885; the expansion from 1925; and the garden surrounding the building. Nowadays the garden reduces, the original photos will show how big the garden was.
With its new purpose as a museum and cultural space, the renovation project has adapted the spaces in the building, so, it hasn’t been necessary to modify any of the spaces designed by Gaudí.
CASA VICENS TODAY:
Open to the public since 2017 after a series of restorations (still in progress) it is worth visiting. The visit begins on the patio, where there is a Hoffmann café, before moving on to the entrance of the house. The first floor with the restored dining room with the same materials of origin and the covered terrace with the fountain will surely remind you of Gaudí.
Before moving to the second floor, take a look at the room that the Vicens family used to smoke. The second floor has an outdoor terrace, the bathroom and the museum area where you can find all the info on the house from yesterday to today. And finally, the third floor has a terrace, with Gaudí-style decorated fireplaces.
