WHAT TO SEE IN LUXEMBOURG
The city is surrounded by elevators in order to make easy the movement in the city center. Public transport was declared free in 2019, is the first country in the world. The city center is divided by 3 major neighborhoods:
Villa Haute (tall city) my favorite part, especially at Christmas where they are located the most beautiful Christmas markets. Take a walk through the Place Guillaume II, Palais Grand-Ducal, and the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.
Then go to see the principal view of the city, from the Schlassbréck (the old door of the city). From here you can visit the Casemates du Bock, open only a few months at the years.
The Grund is the neighborhood in the valley, full of restaurants and bars, very funny. There is an elevator close to the Palais de Justice Luxembourg, from here you can go down. In this area, you can find the Neimënster, for cultural events, check the calendar here.
Clausen is the most outsider neighborhood in the city, here you can find some museums like the Musée Dräi Eechelen, and Philharmonie Luxembourg for classical music concerts.
MUSEUM
- Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art: abbreviated to Mudam, is a museum of modern art.
- The National Museum of History and Art: abbreviated to MNHA, is dedicated to displaying artworks and artifacts from all epochs of Luxembourg history.
- Musée Dräi Eechelen: its permanent exhibition traces Luxembourg’s history from 1443 to 1903.
- The National Museum of Natural History is a natural history museum
- Villa Vauban art museum surrounded by tranquil lawns & landscaped gardens
WHERE TO EAT
Luxembourg city is very expensive, like Switzerland, the best period to visit it it’s Christmas, you can eat all the special and typical dish at the Christmas markets. This is the cheapest option, then if you want to the restaurant and try the Raclette, prepare you 50€ per person.
The pastry is very famous here too, Oberweis it’s very famous and very good, you must taste it.
WHERE TO SLEEP
Very expensive, as you book in advance you can not see low prices. The average price is € 45 per night per person, € 55 if you want breakfast included. If you are a group of friends, the option is always cheaper. For a couple it is better a hotel, there are very few hostels and the price isn’t so cheap.

I choose the Empire hotel at € 190 per night with breakfast, the hotel is right in front of the train station. The breakfast offers everything (sweet and salad) and is convenient comparing the price of outside bars.
